UV Safety Awareness Month

🌿 “The Lord will keep you from all harm…” — Psalm 121:7

July brings long days, bright sun, and outdoor activities — but it also brings the highest UV exposure of the year. This month, we’re focusing on protecting our skin, preventing sun damage, and keeping our families safe during summer.

🟦 WEEK 1 — Understanding UV Exposure: Protecting the Skin God Gave Us

The sun is a blessing, but too much UV radiation can cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer — the most common cancer in the United States.
UV rays are strongest between 10 AM and 4 PM, even on cloudy days.

Simple Ways to Stay Safe

  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30+
  • Reapply every 2 hours (and after swimming)
  • Wear hats, sunglasses, and lightweight long sleeves
  • Seek shade during peak sun hours
  • Protect children’s skin — it burns faster

Caring for our skin is caring for the body God entrusted to us.

Best Guidance for Families in July

  • Choose SPF 30–50 for daily use
  • Choose SPF 50+ for pool days, beach days, and long outdoor events
  • Use mineral sunscreen for babies, kids, and sensitive skin
  • Reapply every 2 hours
  • Don’t forget ears, neck, shoulders, and tops of feet

Freedom in Christ: Trivia & Truths

1. What is the source of true spiritual freedom?Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that freedom is not merely political or personal — it is freedom from sin, given through Christ alone (John 8:36).

2. What was the cost of this freedom? The life of Jesus. Our freedom was purchased “not with perishable things… but with the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18–19).

3. Who bore the weight of that cost?Jesus Himself. He carried the full burden of sin on the cross so that we could live in grace (Isaiah 53:4–5).

4. What does God’s freedom offer that earthly freedom cannot?Freedom from guilt, shame, bondage, and spiritual death. Earthly freedom protects rights; God’s freedom transforms hearts.

5. When does a believer receive this freedom? The moment they accept Christ. Salvation brings immediate liberation from the power of sin (Romans 6:22).

6. What responsibility comes with God-given freedom? To use it to serve others in love. “Do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love” (Galatians 5:13).

7. What symbol reminds us of both earthly and spiritual freedom? The Cross. The cross is the ultimate declaration that freedom has a price, and Christ paid it fully.

8. How does God’s freedom shape how we celebrate July 4th?It reminds us that while we cherish national liberty, our deepest freedom is found in Christ, who frees us eternally.
